Now they are out at sea. They are trying to catch Sardins and if possible Marlins. The old man sees a bird flying overhead trying to find food and he doesn’t think that the bird has any chance.

Whats Going On?
September 28, 2006Thought On The Old Man And The Sea
September 26, 2006i have really noticed that the relationship between the boy and the old man is getting way closer. they have really come together and spent more time with eachother, i literally think the boy is closer with the old man then he is with his own old man. i dont think he really appreciates his old man for taking him away from his friend. i also think that the old man has taught the young boy well, he has taught him manners and taught him to do things for the old man when he is ill or not quite awake.
The Old Man and The Sea
September 22, 2006This story is about the relationship between and old man and a young boy who start out fishing together and then the little boy’s parents make him go on a different boat because he had already been with the old man for 85 days and not caught any fish. i think this story is pretty interesting so far and i really like the whole reading out loud thing. this book will probably ending up where the kid runs away with the old man or something like that, and then they both end up stranded in the middle of the ocean for days. i dont have anything else to say.
Hungry?
September 20, 2006i thought Mr. Sheehy’s article was really good because i could really picture it in my mind. i was able to see the sun rising exactly the way he wrote it.
The sun rose thinly from the sea and the old man could see the other boats, low on the water and well in toward the shore, spread out across the current. Then the sun was brighter and the glare came on the water and then, as it rose clear, the flat sea sent it back at his eyes so that it hurt sharply and he rowed without looking into it.
I think this article is set aside from others by the fact that in actuality, we watch this happen every morning. even thought we may not realize it, this article is really good in that it gives you a great picture by using words.

Olaudah Equiano
September 20, 2006Today i read a story called The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano. it was about the life of a boy seperated from his sisters and put on a slave ship. i connected with this story because i think it is kind of like the book Night it really shows how terribly bad the people were treated. they were starved and almost sufficated. although i have never been in this position my self, i can really picture what was happening to those people while they were being transfered in ships to be sold and maybe traded to slave owners.
