Essays

January 25, 2007

i think the only purpose of essays is for the writer to have a better understanding of what is going on. maybe also for them to know how to write an essay. im not a big fan of them but i can do them. if i can choose the topic that i write on it makes it much easier for me. however if i dont like the topic that i have to write on, it makes the writing much harder for me. in my own opinion, i dont really like essays and sometimes i think they are a waster of my time.

Blog 4(miscellaneous)

Do I think students will enjoy reading this book fifty years from now? What a hard question. I think that totally depends on how our society changes from now until then. I hope students will enjoy reading this book fifty years from now but I don’t know if that will happen. not only does the way our society changes effect if they will but also the students interest in books and their interest in this type of book. This book seems like it would attract mostly girls so that eliminates half of our population. There are some girls that only like books on magical things or scary things, or even those kids who like reading books that are on witch craft or supernatural crap. You always have to put those kids into consideration also. i hope that students fifty years from now will enjoy this book however i can’t control what kids are interested reading. I know there are those kids who flat out hate reading and that there is no cure for. However, you could find out what kinds of books those kinds of student’s would be interested in reading and maybe you’d be surprised to find out that they might like these kinds of book. This is a good book if you like reality books like this one.

Blog 3(setting)

January 22, 2007

Through out this book, the setting hasn’t really changed. The story takes place for the most part at
Alice’s’ house and at her school. The story never reveals the name of the town or the state that they live in but it seems like a small town. the only thing is is that when ever it seems like they are going to say the name of the town or the state, they don’t, they talk about something totally different. well the story has mentioned one thing about the setting and that was when they were talking about the homecoming dance and one of Alice’s’ friends was talking about her boyfriend coming into town and that he lived in Philadelphia so they must live somewhere near Philadelphia. the setting doesn’t really have an effect on Alice or any of the other characters which is a good thing. i think that if there was a dynamic change in the setting, it wouldn’t be a good idea. Alice goes through a lot in this book and I think that if anything else happened to
Alice and it wasn’t for the better of her life and future, it would be a total disaster. i think the only person that the setting might have had an impact on would have to be
Alice’s father. Although the setting hasn’t really changed, it has a little bit.
Alice has this new boyfriend and her father is kind of scared because of some of the things her brother did when he was her age. But for the most part, the setting hasn’t had a big, major change.

Alice on her way(plot)

January 14, 2007

One of the most suspenseful parts of my book was when
Alice went to the mall to help Sam with a project for their school newspaper. Sam asked her to help in take pictures, ask questions and write down names of the people they questioned. after this scene, Sam started coming in to the picture a lot more, for example, after the mall, Sam took her to get a latte and then to a movie. i think he wanted way more than just her help. This scene was very suspenseful because it brought an uprising to their relationship. i mean if Sam wouldn’t have asked
Alice to help him, they wouldn’t even be dating. Another suspenseful scene was when Sam and Alice went to the Jack of Hearts together and her dad got the wrong impression and signed
Alice up for a sex program and the church.
Alice didn’t like this at all and she knew that her dad had a strange feeling about her and Sam. Alice fought with her father about why he signed her up for the program and he insisted that he thought it would be good for and he also admitted that the article in the school paper about teens and sex scared him a little so that also had a role in his decision.
Alice told her friends about this program and her friend Pamela said she had to tell her all about it.
Alice went to the first meeting and she actually enjoyed it although she had to wear the word semen on her back for 15 minutes until she figured the word out. This was a changing point because she actually liked the class and for once, she thought her dad made a good decision even thought she couldn’t let him know she liked the class.

Alice on her way(character)

January 14, 2007

So far in this book called Alice on her way by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, the main character
Alice has changed a lot in just the beginning of the book. She is a 15 year old sophomore in high school. Right now, the most important things on her mind are Drama Club and Driving lessons since she’s almost 16.
Alice is an average girl and somehow manages to maintain a B average while still having a full and fun life with her friends. However, she dated this guy named Patrick but that didn’t go to well because they are not dating anymore. She doesn’t seem like a big girlie girl but at the same time, she can be a girlie girl.
Alice has changed a lot from the beginning of the story, in that the two most important things in her life right now are Jack of Hearts dance and Boys. The jack of hearts dance is one of the biggest dances of the school year and she is pretty happy about it since for one, she has a date, Sam Mayor, and for two, he’s really cute. The only thing is that she has nothing to wear. Back at the beginning of the story,
Alice wouldn’t have cared what she wore as much as she cares now that she has a date and he’s really cute. Her and her dad where really close at the beginning of the story but every since he signed her up for this ‘Our whole lives’ program about at church they haven’t been the best of friends. Her father signed her up for this program about sex thinking it would be a good thing for her but in reality, it wasn’t. she loved her father at the start of this book and she still does, but she has some mixed feelings about him now because she thinks he signed her up for it because he was getting worried about her and Sam.

Christmas Brake Story

January 3, 2007

well, i didn’t know what to get my little brothers or my nephew so i took them to toys’r'us and let them pick something out. i didn’t think it would be that hard for them to choose. i figured we would be there max 2 hours. well i figured way wrong, we were there for a little over 4 hours and they still didn’t get anything. we would have stayed there longer but we had to go get some lunch cuz my nephew was getting hungry. we went back and played around with the toys for about another 2 hours until my nephew was tired and they found what they wanted. my little nephew is in love with trains so thats part of the reason we were there so long. and he is at that age where he has to touch everything and he gets mad if you try to take him away from the train set they have. i ended up spending a little less then 200 dollars. my parents had given me 100 so i didn’t spend that much of my own but it was fun and they got what they wanted so it was a good day.
