Alice on her way(plot)

January 14, 2007

One of the most suspenseful parts of my book was when
Alice went to the mall to help Sam with a project for their school newspaper. Sam asked her to help in take pictures, ask questions and write down names of the people they questioned. after this scene, Sam started coming in to the picture a lot more, for example, after the mall, Sam took her to get a latte and then to a movie. i think he wanted way more than just her help. This scene was very suspenseful because it brought an uprising to their relationship. i mean if Sam wouldn’t have asked
Alice to help him, they wouldn’t even be dating. Another suspenseful scene was when Sam and Alice went to the Jack of Hearts together and her dad got the wrong impression and signed
Alice up for a sex program and the church.
Alice didn’t like this at all and she knew that her dad had a strange feeling about her and Sam. Alice fought with her father about why he signed her up for the program and he insisted that he thought it would be good for and he also admitted that the article in the school paper about teens and sex scared him a little so that also had a role in his decision.
Alice told her friends about this program and her friend Pamela said she had to tell her all about it.
Alice went to the first meeting and she actually enjoyed it although she had to wear the word semen on her back for 15 minutes until she figured the word out. This was a changing point because she actually liked the class and for once, she thought her dad made a good decision even thought she couldn’t let him know she liked the class.

Alice on her way(character)

January 14, 2007

So far in this book called Alice on her way by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, the main character
Alice has changed a lot in just the beginning of the book. She is a 15 year old sophomore in high school. Right now, the most important things on her mind are Drama Club and Driving lessons since she’s almost 16.
Alice is an average girl and somehow manages to maintain a B average while still having a full and fun life with her friends. However, she dated this guy named Patrick but that didn’t go to well because they are not dating anymore. She doesn’t seem like a big girlie girl but at the same time, she can be a girlie girl.
Alice has changed a lot from the beginning of the story, in that the two most important things in her life right now are Jack of Hearts dance and Boys. The jack of hearts dance is one of the biggest dances of the school year and she is pretty happy about it since for one, she has a date, Sam Mayor, and for two, he’s really cute. The only thing is that she has nothing to wear. Back at the beginning of the story,
Alice wouldn’t have cared what she wore as much as she cares now that she has a date and he’s really cute. Her and her dad where really close at the beginning of the story but every since he signed her up for this ‘Our whole lives’ program about at church they haven’t been the best of friends. Her father signed her up for this program about sex thinking it would be a good thing for her but in reality, it wasn’t. she loved her father at the start of this book and she still does, but she has some mixed feelings about him now because she thinks he signed her up for it because he was getting worried about her and Sam.

Christmas Brake Story

January 3, 2007

well, i didn’t know what to get my little brothers or my nephew so i took them to toys’r'us and let them pick something out. i didn’t think it would be that hard for them to choose. i figured we would be there max 2 hours. well i figured way wrong, we were there for a little over 4 hours and they still didn’t get anything. we would have stayed there longer but we had to go get some lunch cuz my nephew was getting hungry. we went back and played around with the toys for about another 2 hours until my nephew was tired and they found what they wanted. my little nephew is in love with trains so thats part of the reason we were there so long. and he is at that age where he has to touch everything and he gets mad if you try to take him away from the train set they have. i ended up spending a little less then 200 dollars. my parents had given me 100 so i didn’t spend that much of my own but it was fun and they got what they wanted so it was a good day.

In chapter 3, the old men are starting to meet some of the guys around the ranch. they have met curly and his wife. George doesn’t really like Curly because he starts trying to intimidate lennie. he keeps reminding them thats he’s a pro boxer and he’s really good and that he can beet anybody. George keeps telling lennie that if curly ever starts anything with him to beat him up and run and hide. there is another man in the bunk room that has a really old dog and the dog can hardly stand up on its own. the other guys try to convince him to put the dog out of his misery and shoot him but at first he doesn’t want to. then he finally desides that it would probably be better for the dog anyway. they tell him that curly’s dog has new litter of dogs and he will give him a new one. so they go into the forest and shoot the dog.

In chapter 2, the men arrived to the ranch. it was later then they were sapposed to have arrived, however, they did arrive. the get “assigned” their bunks and they didn’t really like them at first but lennie was the only one who really said anything because he found the spray for bugs. George didn’t say anything because he never really complains about anything anyway. Lennie asked what the bug spray was on his shelf for and the man in the room explained that the old man that was there before him didn’t like bugs. he said the old man sprayed the stuff even if there was no bugs around. the boss came in the room yelling to find out where them new boys were and he was surprised to see them standing in the bunk room. he asked them what their names were and George told him both of them. why doesn’t George ever let Lennie ever talk even thought he’s not very smart.? just because he isn’t very smart doesn’t mean he can’t say what he can and can not do.

Video About Fashion!

November 20, 2006

The significance of this video is that it gives those people who aren’t exactly endowed with the best looks, a chance to make it in the celebrity or fashion world. It will let them think that they are beautiful even if they have been told their whole life that they are not. This action takes place because even people who are really beautiful and make it in the fashion world, there is something wrong with everybody. This process is continued through the fact that we by the products that this Is possible with and we believe in the fact that almost any one can be made beautiful. This video is true because this is exactly how the fashion and real world work.

What About Painters?

November 9, 2006

Painters can express mood by the different colors they use or the different background they paint. for example, if a painter uses a dark background the picture is probably about depression or a sad moment. while if the painter uses a bright color, the picture will probably be about laughter and happiness. if a painter paints a picture with sad faces or no facial expressions at all, the painter might not have been very happy when they painted it. if the painter paints a picture with smily faces and wide eyes, the painter was probably in a good mood. a lot of the mood involved in the picture, is about the mood the painter has at that time of day when he paints it. the picture display what the feelings of the painter are. if you want to know what a painter is like then you could look at their paintings and probably find our within a matter of just a few. after looking at what others had to say about painters, i like what jean2008 had to say because they were right about painters oftern trying to paint a story.

Potential Symbols

November 2, 2006

i think that the old man could be that the old man really isn’t doing well however he must keep himself strong and the fish must stay weaker than him. He has to keep going so that he can outdo the fish. he believes that he must win. my symbol was that the old man is trying to stay strong but that he is always refusing food so that could be difficult for him to outdo the fish. however now that he is alone, he is doing better at making himself eat because he knows he must. he knows that is he does not eat, there will be no way for him to defeat the fish. i also think that

Decleration Of Independence

October 10, 2006

The purpose of The Decleration of Independence was to gain our independence from britain by telling them that we no longer wanted to be part of their government and that if they could not cope with that that we would not be happy and would make war. This would affect the way he wrote it because he wanted it to be written by what the people here in america thought. They considered the audience to be all of America. My current audience is a group of 8th graders and my purpose is to rewrite the Decleration of Independence so that they will be able to understand it. If i had a choice, i would want my audience to be a group of adults so i wouldn’t have to rewrite it because they would already understand it. I think my blog is probably not that easily understood but thats all good cause i understand it. i dont know how to answer the rest of that question so i m gonna move on. I am writing for a group of 8th graders. My style of writing is suited for a teacher and friends. It is that way because it does matter what the spelling is like and how my punctuation is . I dont think i need to change the way i am writing becuase i have considered the fact that i am writing for a group of 8th graders.
